Behind Raw Oak and Glass Frame
A self-taught artist, Melanie Macilwain uses large canvases to explore bold colours and the simple, physical movements of the paintbrush. Her signature works are a celebration of vibrant colours and vivid textures. Her exhibition pieces are inspired by the subtle spring colours that she observed beginning to emerge in gardens, paddocks and beaches — specifically, Daffodils, Camellias, Correa, Wattle, Saltbush, Austral Indigo and Water Ribbon — signs of the new season to come.
