A self-confessed lover of color, shape and texture, Emma Gale’s artworks are visual landscapes comprised of layers and layers of paint, markings of good and bad mistakes coming together harmoniously. Emma finds endless inspiration from the people and daily rituals of other cultures. With this body of work, Emma has chosen South America as her cultural influence.

"I love the aesthetic of the old cantinas, the old bars — like my painting The Pulqueria, which is a type of tavern in Mexico that specialise in serving an alcoholic beverage known as pulque. I also draw on the Day of The Dead Celebration, Dia de los Muertos, in my two artworks Marigold Cempasuchil and Yellow Pinnata, where the Mexican marigold flower is most commonly used or Aztec Marigold, otherwise known as cempasuchil or flower of the dead. I love the old colours that depict the old bars, think Merida on the Yucatan Peninsula, like in my still life piece Mexican Rose."
