A kaleidoscopic celebration of creativity, Ola Mexicola brings together eleven Australian artists whose work dances with colour, texture, and joy. From the pulsing streets of Mexico City to the pastel-washed facades of San Miguel de Allende, each piece channels the vibrancy, warmth, and layered beauty that inspired our latest collection.
Artist Statement:
Conjunto, Entero, Completo is a series of abstract paintings that explore the notion of wholeness through form, colour and cultural symbolism. The works use rounded silhouettes and accent circles to represent people, relationships and the sacred bonds of community.
Each composition is built from softened geometric shapes, interlocking and embracing, suggesting human figures in unity or a collective held in balance. The circular forms serve as visual anchors: symbols of the complete, the unbroken, and the eternal. In Mexican culture, the rounded form, often represented by the circle, holds significant symbolic meaning. It is associated with the cosmos, cycles and a deep sense of communal wholeness. Here, it becomes both motif and metaphor.
The titles speak to a sense of fullness and interconnection. These works are visual meditations on unity, whether within families, communities or within ourselves. With their restrained palettes
and subtle textured paint techniques, the paintings echo ancient symbology while speaking in a contemporary and minimalist voice.
