Melanie Macilwain - Moon Buoy
120cm x 120cm
Acrylic and Varnish on Cotton Canvas
"The piece I created is called ‘Moon Buoy’. Everything in covid become so real, so urgent and so deprived. It wasn’t until I actively sourced goodness from outside myself that this feeling shifted. The flip came from missing family, friends and work to loving community, helping and sharing."
My silver lining...
"We’re in a town that embraces plunging into the morning Southern Ocean in togs. And it’s madness but it is one of the best things that has happened to us as a family. It has given us a sense of play, adventure and smiles and it’s what helps us connect our mind and body."
A self-taught artist, Melanie Macilwain uses large canvases to explore bold colours and the simple, physical movements of the paintbrush. Her signature works are a celebration of vibrant colours and vivid textures.
