Sam Iurada x Charlotte Reicher - Fragmented Mind
120cm x 120cm
Acrylic on Canvas
Framed in Tasmanian Oak
"The inspiration behind the two artworks created are all around mental health and the challenges they presented for people during Covid lockdowns and the toll that it took on the mental health of parents, children, and carers. I was lucky enough to be able to work with a year 9 student - Charlotte Reicher, who was able to contribute her emotions to the artwork. I thought it was really important for the youth who were so severely affected in Victoria to be able to contribute to something that affected them so greatly."
My silver lining...
"It's all about connection. Better connection to my children, family, community and myself. If the past 2 years has given me anything it has been precious time with people that I would not have had otherwise, and I am thankful for that."
Her pieces today are an abstract interpretation of the underwater landscape. In recent years she has studied the principles of colour in design and her artworks are stories through abstraction, negative space and layering colour. The ocean and its conservation is a huge part of her life and is a constant source of her creativity.
