Zuzu Galova

Zuzu Galova is a Slovak-born artist, illustrator and muralist based in Bondi Beach, Sydney. Her figurative paintings centre on women, drawing inspiration from the ocean, surf culture and the feeling of endless summer. Through simplified forms, flowing lines and sun-washed colour, she explores freedom, identity and connection.

A surfer and ocean swimmer, Zuzu brings her own relationship with the sea into her work. Her women are the protagonists of their own stories, strong, playful and free to take up space. Their deliberately minimal facial features invite viewers to find something of themselves within each scene. Her paintings celebrate the pleasure of being present, from the anticipation of the next wave to the warmth of the sun on your skin.
