ARTIST BIO

Margaret Delahunty Spencer

Delahunty Spencer, is a Ballarat based artist who also spends time in her coastal studio. She is both a trained painter and ceramists. Delahunty Spencer attended Arts AcademyUniversity of Ballarat and holds an Honours Degree is Painting & Drawing.

Both her vessels and her artworks have evolved from an exploration of her current ‘role’ in life.‘I am an ‘empty nester’ post-menopausal’ woman, a motherless adult ...my role as a nurturer, a mother, and carer of my mother, is slowly being redefined. I lurch from giddy excitement about my new ‘freedom’ to feelings of being slightly ‘untethered’. I am exploring myself as a vessel, the container. My four beautiful children are little vessels of promise, receptacles of my love and dreams.’
