ARTIST BIO

Marnie Mcknight

Marnie McKnight is a Sydney-based full time artist, primarily working in acrylics on canvas. She began her artistic career in earnest in 2016 and has regularly featured in media, exhibitions, art prizes and fairs, with her art now held in public and private spaces in over 30 countries.

McKnight’s signature style is defined by bold, expressive brushstrokes, layered textures and an intuitive use of colour that evokes mood and movement. She embraces the accidental drips, the tactile quality of paint and her compositions suggest emotion rather than literal form.

Her work focus is a celebration of the transformative power and profound connection of art and literature. The art centres around women reading, their faces intentionally hidden or blank, allowing the subject to be absorbed in a book, held in a moment of time, the expectations of society momentarily ignored.
