ARTIST BIO

Eclette

Eclette is artist Penny Brooshooft’s expression of self: she designs and handmakes eclectic and vibrantly colourful artworks.

Eclette was born from Penny’s love of eclectic homes filled to the brim with art - she believes that a house is not a home unless it is full of things that shout individuality and personality.

A core focus of Penny’s practice is on sustainability – her background in environmental science has led her to find creative ways to reduce and recycle waste and this flows into her art and the evolution of her hand-built vessels and sculptures.

Penny hand sculpts from a material she calls ‘cardcrete’, a cardboard pulp that uses 100% recycled cardboard. Once the moulded shapes are dry the resulting product is robust and tactile. These unique sculptures create a new life for a waste product.
